CORIANDER
Coriander seeds are the fruit of a parsley family plant (Apiaceae) native from southern Europe and the Middle East. The color of the seeds varies from yellow to brown and its diameter ranges between 2.5 and 5 mm. In ancient times, it was known to be used for the preservation of meat.
The seeds are commonly used to flavor foods because of the lemony citrus flavor that is felt when crushed. Coriander seeds together with turmeric, fenugreek, cumin and chili make up the famous Indian curry.
The oil from the seeds is widely used as a flavoring agent in all kinds of foods, including alcoholic beverages, tobacco, sweets and sausages.
Its consumption has great health benefits by treating anemia, preventing diabetes and in helping with cases of arthritis.
